You will need a T6 torx driver to remove the screws. I also recommend a thin plastic guitar pick to help undo the covers. Check your local home depot or hardware store for a torx driver set. They run about 5 dollars. Some of the LCD’s come with a driver but it was a t5 torx and was too small.
1. Turn off power to the phone
2. Remove battery cover and battery.
3. Remove the camera cover.
4. Insert a small tip object (preferably plastic) into the camera cover near the headset port.
5. Work the small tipped object around the seam of the cover to release the 2 retaining clips and remove the camera cover. See the pictures below for the locations.![]()
6. Remove the 2 screws that are under the camera cover.
7. Release the 5 clips on the sides of the cover.
8. Flip the phone over and remove the top cover by lifting at the top and working towards the bottom to release the 2 hooks.
9. Remove the keypad by lifting from the bottom. There is a small hook on each side so be careful.
10. Remove the 4 screws that are under the number pad.
11. Flip the Nokia 5310 back over and lift the bottom cover off. Be careful of the 2 latches at the top.
12. Release the 2 retaining clips holding the main board to the top frame.
13. Flip the phone back over and gently lift the metal frame off and to the side. Be careful as there is a cable between the two.

14. Release the connector for the LCD screen. Use a guitar pick or you fingernail to lift up from the corner.
15. Lift the broken LCD screen off the Nokia 5310.
15. Install the replacement LCD on and push connector into place. Give the ribbon cable a bend as shown.![]()
16. Install the keypad and frame back on to the main board. Make sure the keypad cable is plugged in.
17. Push down on the backside of the main board to engage the two clips shown in step 12.![]()
18. Put the back cover on. Install it from the top of the phone towards the bottom.
19. Install the 4 screws around the keypad.
20. Install the number pad back on. Press firmly on each side to make sure the clips engage.
21. Install the top outer frame back on. Start from the bottom of the phone.
22. Make sure the latches on side are fully engaged. Failure to do this may cause side buttons on the phone not to function properly.
23. Install the the two screws back into the top backside of the phone.
24. Install the camera cover on and make sure is snaps into place.
25. Install the battery and put the battery cover back on.
26. Power up your Nokia 5310
27. If all went well, the LCD screen will look like this.
That’s it. Enjoy your newly repaired Nokia 5310 LCD screen.

Thanks so much! I just fixed my phone for $12!
My screen seems to be working great, but now the phone won’t recognize there is a sim card.. :S
Was the phone water damaged? Did the SIM card work before the LCD repair. I would first try a different sim card if possible. If still does not work, go back in and make sure that all of the connectors are firmly seated.
Superb instructions. I’m very grateful that you took the time to put together this help sheet and will visit your e bay shop again in the future. Thanks
Thank you very, very much. I was caught in a rainstorm a couple of days ago and my Nokia 5310 became very wet! Although the phone still worked, after it had dried out the screen looked terrible. Thanks to your great step by step guide I have cleaned the inside of the screen cover and it now looks as good as new. You have saved me the cost of a new phone which is currently about 6’000 Baht ($200) here in Bangkok. Fantastic!!!
As a caution…I went through this whole process and at the point of replacing the screen, I realized the company I bought it from sent me the wrong screen despite my giving them the phone’s model #. The screen they sent was too wide and had the connection on the wrong side. I now have the phone taken apart and hopefully, I will not have fight with them (GoBayMart) to have them send the correct screen at no cost.
By the way, GoBayMart was very friendly and is correcting the issue. Very good customer service. My fault as well for not verifying the screen I received was the correct one beforehand.
GREAT! Thank you for your help. That was really easy!
Hi, Great pics. I have replaced my sons screen three times!
Friends of his who have the same phone, have also broken the screen. This phone has a design fault, that in trying to be a very thin phone it can flex, ergo broken screen as it has no play in its mounting.
This time not wanting to junk an expensive phone(to us).
I stripped the phone, filed out where the screen sits removed rubber grommet material. Fitted new screen with micro foam, in its now bigger aperture. Then I got an aluminum outer clip on case. The type that fits over the original. So that now it looks just the same but with an alloy body. Then to cap it all off i fitted an extra nokia screen to the outer body.
If it cracks again, my brother is going to work in Finland he can take it back for me and tell them what I think of it.
Good Luck to you all Rob.
Hi all
I’m after the sticky black stuff that sticks the screen cover to the chassis. Any ideas where to get such stuff or how to botch some together?
Just replaced my screen following these directions and it worked great! Thanks a bunch- saved me probably at least $40.
However I do have a question… The screen is working, however certain pictures show up kind of strange, sort of whitish? Reminds me of how a laptop screen looks from the wrong angle. Do you know a reason for this? Screen was purchase from an eBay seller with top ratings…
yes i was wondering what screw driver u used for the screws
Hi
I am having trouble with step 6 as those two tiny screws are turning but not coming out …anybody had the same problem?
Thanks
Sean
Do i need to go through all that to replace the lens or screen? not the LCD! The screen is all scratched up but LCD is ok.
Thanks
Just like Marion, my display now is just a little bit blurry and not as bright and black where it should be. Do you have to buy an original part? How do you know if it’s original..?
Origanal LCD screens for the Nokia 5310 will say original or OEM. I did not used an origianl one and mine and it turned out ok. Make sure all is seated well.
YOu need to take it down to the point where you can take the from screen off.
Here is a seperate guide for replacing the front cover or lcd lens on the 5310. http://www.repairmycellphone.net/replace-nokia-5310-front-housing-change-colors-too/20/
Sam- Apply a little pressure under the piece and lift up as you turn the screws
T5 for the torx and 00 philipps
Thanks so much!!! We know nothing about phones and my 14 year old daughter and I were able to fix her Nokia 5310 that had a broken screen by ourselves! This saved us because the phone is discontinued and the only way that we could have gotten another phone was to sign up for another 2 year contract. thanks so much! Used the link and bought a screen for cheap. thanks
By the way, I used the link you provided for the screen and it came with the tools (I ordered from a U.S. seller) thanks again
Thanks Bro. U made it so easy that even i can do it. U saved me some money and time. Keep up the good work.
Hey!Many thanks for the amazing reply!I followed the process with no problems but when i try turning on the phone i can see it normally but then it goes all white then normal then white and after it turns off.I think that it might have something to do with the battery since the phone hasnt been charged for over a year.whats your opinion?
Thanks
Very very helpful and great photos – only part that was a little unclear was removing the camera cover and the front cover; releasing the clips was tricky. But my phone works again!!

Thank’s again. Buy a new screen and glasses on Ebay cost me 9$
Follow you step by step guide.
And i have a new telephone
Perfect, thanks.
Excellent instructions. I followed some other instructions first which would have damaged my phone. Then I found your instructions which were so much more detailed and helpful. I now have my old phone working like new. Thanks again for your help.
The directions above were very helpful. I did not need to replace the internal LCD, I only needed to replace the outter lens, or outter LDC cover that sits on top of the internal LCD for which this guide is for. The outter LDC, or front glass, is lightly glued on top of the internal lcd. So, steps 12 and on were not required for me. By step 11 you could just peel off the front glass and glue a new one on top, which you can get from e-bay for like $3 bucks. You will also need a star head screw driver, size t-6, and a guitar pick. You should add some of these details to your guide. Other than that, this has been an excellent guide. I could not have done the job without it. Thank you.
Very good, clear, precise instructions! I bought a kit on ebay.co.uk from this seller… sjmalistock2008
